Banana, peanut & oat breakfast smoothie
Cooked and chilled oats blend with banana, milk, yogurt and peanut butter into a thick breakfast drink.
Ingredients
Volumes are approximate. For baking, use a scale; Metric keeps the specified gram weights.
Let’s make it
- Bring oats and about 7 oz (200 g) water to a simmer in a small saucepan. Cook 5–7 minutes, stirring, or for the package's required time until fully cooked and soft. Retain all porridge and water; do not drain. Add a little plain water only if the pan becomes dry before the oats cook.
- Immediately spread porridge in a clean shallow container in a layer no more than 1 inch (2 ½ cm) deep and refrigerate promptly, loosely covered until cold. Allow about 60–90 minutes and check it reaches 40°F (4°C) or below; timing varies. Peel and weigh banana, cover and refrigerate while the oats chill. Cover porridge fully once cold.
- Add cold milk to the blender, followed by cold porridge, yogurt, banana, peanut butter and cinnamon. Blend 45–90 seconds until smooth, stopping the motor before scraping the sides. Scrape in every measured ingredient; do not strain out solids.
- Divide the complete batch equally by weight between two glasses and serve immediately. If too thick for the blender, add a small amount of cold potable water and blend again; extra milk would change the nutrition estimate. Refrigerate any reserved smoothie at 40°F or below and use within 24 hours, stirring or reblending after separation. Keep out of refrigeration no longer than 2 hours.

Calculation notes & sources
ESTIMATED per serving. Brand, crop, preparation, draining, pan residue and substitutions change actual nutrition. Not laboratory analysis. Each ingredient retains its primary food description and state. All listed ingredient masses are counted; cooking moisture changes do not change the stated portion count. No generic nutrient-retention factor is invented. Calories are kcal; protein, total carbohydrate, fat and total sugar are grams. Total carbohydrate includes fiber and is not net carbohydrate. Fiber and sodium are not displayed. Equal portions or explicitly counted items define the stated recipe yield. US/Metric display changes do not change these canonical inputs. Primary-source supplements are retained per ingredient where USDA lacks a field; missing values are never silently changed to zero. Entire blended batch divided by weight into two equal portions; final volume is not claimed. Contains milk and peanuts. Gluten-free requires certified gluten-free oats and appropriate ingredient/cross-contact checks. No honey, protein powder, ice cream or toppings included.
