  1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment.
  2. Whisk melted butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and whisk until glossy.
  3. Fold in cocoa, flour, and salt just until no dry pockets remain, then fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Spread in the pan. Bake for 22–28 minutes until edges are set and a tester has moist crumbs but no liquid batter.
  5. Cool completely before slicing into 16 squares. Add a light dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
